Google Docs is an online document program that has a load of potential. It allows anyone to create documents from scratch, create documents from a template, upload existing files (DOC, XLS, ODT, ODS, RTF, CSV, PPT, etc), share your documents in real time, choose who you can share with, store documents online allowing them to be accessed from anywhere and organize documents.

A teacher could use this website in order to help with group assignments. With access to real time documents that other students have worked on, group work may become easier.

Efficiency applications: Many

A teacher may post one document on this site. From there all of the students that are given access will be able to view, edit, comment and orgainize this document. This saves the teacher untold copies and questions.

Applications in Community Edit

Community applications: Many

This site is a great way to upload documents for veiwing by the school board, parents, other students and other teachers. This will allow anyone who is given access to veiw student work

I have not used it however... Google Docs claims that anyone can use it.

Similar to / different from Edit

This really takes Microsoft Office and introduces it to the internet. It takes the best of Office and merges it with blogging technologies

Limitations Edit

Issues with what students can veiw and what they cannot veiw (grade and privacy) must be well hammered out and well discussed in the classroom before it is accessed by students.
